Students Celebrate Exploration, Creativity and Innovation at District STREAM Night
On March 31, Malverne K-12 students and their families were invited to the high school for an evening of hands-on activities designed to inspire an interest in STREAM learning. STREAM is a teaching approach that combines science, technology, research, engineering, art and math and serves as the foundation for the district’s daily curriculum, focusing on the critical thinking and problem-solving skills students practice in every lesson.
Malverne STREAM Night offered the opportunity for students of all ages to engage in chemistry, biology and physical science experiments, as well as art, math games and science-themed crafts. Students were also able to explore robotics and learn about the district’s award-winning Virtual Enterprise program.
In the library, high school and middle school student presented their science research projects, the culmination of a year of hard work both in and outside of school. Guests were invited to view projects and learn more about the research procedures and conclusions directly from the students. Many of these projects have recently been selected for prestigious awards at regional competitions and this was the first opportunity the community had to view them all in one place.
The district extends its gratitude to the educators who organized the event and the student volunteers who facilitated the activities. By showcasing these academic achievements, the evening successfully demonstrated the direct connection between daily classroom instruction and the exceptional work of Malverne students.
