On June16, the AP African Studies students from Malverne High School visited Downing to share their Juneteenth presentations and read some of their favorite books to the students.
The younger students were thrilled to host these special guests at their school and many of the high school students were excited to reconnect with their elementary school roots and spend some time with their former teachers.
Overall, it was an amazing opportunity for a shared experience across grade levels that offered thoughtful and engaging conversations about this historic milestone in Black history.
