We are proud to shine a light on two amazing summer programs taking place right now at Malverne High School!
Students from HTH Middle School are engaged in a two-week Summer Coding Club where they are learning the fundamentals of coding using the Scratch and Python platforms. With Ms. Iannaci's guidance, the students are developing crucial skills like problem-solving, logical thinking and creativity, that are essential for future success, and having fun too!
In the high school library, 1st and 2nd graders from Downing are developing a love of reading with librarian Ms. Bowman. The students are exploring the world through books and even have passports to prove it! In addition to reading, doing art projects and playing "Lion Says," they are also taking field trips to local libraries.
Next week, Davison students will be joining Ms. Bowman in the library for this special summer program that is sure to thrill and inspire.

The Davison Avenue Ambassadors took their leadership to the next level by creating "From Your Kitchen to Ours: Davison’s Global Kitchen," a digital cookbook celebrating the rich cultural diversity of our school community. Each recipe told a story, offering a heartfelt glimpse into the traditions and kitchens of our Davison families. With love, dedication and a mission to give back, the Ambassadors sold 53 cookbooks, raising $260 with 100% of the proceeds donated to No Kid Hungry, a nonprofit committed to ending childhood hunger. Through this project, the Ambassadors showed that when you mix culture, community and compassion, you get something truly powerful… and delicious.

Malverne School District is thrilled to share exciting news about the amazing fundraising efforts that took place at Maurice W. Downing Primary School. Thanks to the generosity, hard work and spirit of the entire school community throughout the year, Downing raised $6,362 to the Ronald McDonald House. This brings their grand total donated to RMDH since 2017 to over $50,000! This money was raised through holiday sales, coin challenges, afterschool paint classes and ice cream Fridays. Students were inspired and engaged while collectively working together for this great cause. We are proud that our Downing team is helping this outstanding organization continue their mission of providing comfort, care, and support to families with children facing serious medical challenges. This achievement would not have been possible without the dedication and compassion of our students, families and staff. The kindness and community spirit are truly breathtaking.

On June16, the AP African Studies students from Malverne High School visited Downing to share their Juneteenth presentations and read some of their favorite books to the students. The younger students were thrilled to host these special guests at their school and many of the high school students were excited to reconnect with their elementary school roots and spend some time with their former teachers. Overall, it was an amazing opportunity for a shared experience across grade levels that offered thoughtful and engaging conversations about this historic milestone in Black history.

The district congratulates senior Isabella Thames on being selected to have artwork displayed at the prestigious “Long Island’s Best: Young Artists at the Heckscher Museum” art exhibition. Isabella’s digital image, "Epiphany," was chosen by a juried panel of artists from among over 400 other Long Island student entries. Her photograph will be on display at the Heckscher Museum of Art in Huntington through May 25. In addition, Isabella's artwork was also selected for an extended showing at Mitchells Boutique in Huntington from May 28 through June 22. Only 16 of the works from the “Long Island’s Best” art show were chosen for this extended exhibit. The district is proud to recognize Isabella and we are thrilled that the Malverne High School photo department, headed by teacher Ms. Savas-Minor, will be represented at such a distinguished venue for art.
