On April 30, the Malverne High School Library Media Center hosted its fourth annual Poetry Slam, a celebration of the power and importance of poetry as an art form and an outlet for personal expression. This year’s poem submissions reflected the theme of National Poetry Month 2025, “This is the world I want to live in. The shared world.” Eight students took part in the competition, performing original works for the audience and panel of alumni, faculty and student judges. The event was emceed by Malverne High School Class of 2020 alumnus Stuart Oates, a staff member from Lakeview Public Library. After listening, absorbing and discussing each performance amongst themselves, the judges had the daunting task of selecting winners.
