Malverne Theater Camp cast and crew photo

Students participating in this year’s Malverne’s Theater Camp hit the ground running on day one as they were tasked with a monumental feat: cast, rehearse and stage a production of in just three days!

Under the guidance of Howard T. Herber Middle School theater teacher David Coonan, the fledgling thespians worked together to cast the smart and funny nine-act production that poked fun and put comedic spins on pertinent societal issues, including artificial intelligence, couples therapy, quiz shows and incompetent criminals.

On the day of the performance, Mr. Coonan stood back and let the students take over. With student director Allaine Gayle in charge, they managed the stage and sets, ran sound and lights and performed their roles with energy, enthusiasm and confidence.

As the final curtain fell and audience of family and friends took to their feet for a standing ovation, the cast and crew took joined together on stage for a final bow to celebrate this incredible accomplishment.
