Despite the heat pushing band camp indoors, the 121 members of the “Pride of Malverne” Marching Band didn’t miss a beat as they stepped up and prepared for the upcoming competition season.
During the weeklong camp, the students were not only rehearsing their brand-new field show, “Beyond the Blue,” but were also putting their discipline and dedication on display and building camaraderie with their bandmates, many of whom are incoming freshmen and new to the program.
The season kicks off on Sept. 14 and culminates with the New York State Field Band Conference Championships in Syracuse on Oct. 26.
