Speakers at Malverne Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration thumbnail239852

Congratulations to all who made the annual Malverne Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration a spectacular success, including the incredible members of the community to joined together in strength and solidarity to honor the life and legacy of MLK!

Our night got off to a rousing start thanks to the soaring voices of Faith Eliely and Lauren Barrett.

Superintendent of Schools Dr. Lewis told us about Dr. King’s passion and sacrifice and how his actions on May 12, 1965 opened the doors to racial integration in the Malverne and Lakeview community and changed our district forever.

The Herber Video Production Class put together an amazing video tribute to MLK, complete with historic footage of Dr. King’s visit to Malverne in 1965 and interviews with faculty and students telling us how MLK’s works impact their life each and every day.

The Lions Cheerleaders showed what freedom means to them with an exciting dance routine and the Davison Avenue Glee Club and Downing Performers closed out the evening with their amazing voices that filled the air with love and hope!

Special congratulations go out to our MLK Jr. Humanitarian Award honorees Dr. Vincent Romano and Coach Tyrell Wilson who both contribute so much to the Malverne community with their words and actions. We are so grateful for your service to our students!
